MAIG, What is the Real Agenda?

To begin to understand what Mayors Against Illegal Guns -MAIG- stands for and what Michael Bloomberg’s real agenda is, we first have to define the term “illegal guns”.  When I ask voters if they are against “illegal guns” without exception respond with an emphatic, “yes”.  But when I ask them to tell me what is an illegal gun, suddenly they are at a loss.

The conversation often turns to illegal acts committed by people who use guns.  But that is not an illegal gun, it is an illegal act.  The gun itself is an inanimate object and has no sense of right or wrong, it is not capable of acting alone.

Let’s agree that a gun of any sort currently prohibited by federal law is by definition illegal.  In that sense, I’ve not found one of us who are law abiding citizens disagree on this point, especially those of us who are members of the National Rifle Association.  But herein lies the agenda of MAIG, by passing laws that add more models and types of guns to “the prohibited list” the gun-grabber coalition begins to make otherwise legal weapons illegal.  This is a clear and present danger to the people, and not an enumerated power in our US Constitution.

In an article written by E Michael Maloof for World News Daily, he reports,

interpol2-289x275“WASHINGTON – As the United Nations seeks to push its global anti-gun campaign – through a treaty U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry just signed – the chief of the International Criminal Police Organization, or Interpol, believes open societies can be protected from terrorists by citizens defending themselves with guns, according to a report from Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

In the M3 Briefing from the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers, NAFBPO, we are advised that the international crime and terrorist syndicates have penetrated and are penetrating the US Border, making their way into the interior of the US.

“Terrorism expert Matthew Levitt writes that an increasing number of U.S. prison inmates have tattoos that are pro-Hezbollah or are in Farsi, the language spoken in Iran. The claim is made in Levitt’s new book, Hezbollah: The Global Footprint of Lebanon’s Party of God.

“Law enforcement officials across the Southwest are reporting a rise in imprisoned gang members with Farsi tattoos” and some express loyalty to Hezbollah.”

In the article published by Ryan Mauro on 13-OCT-2013 addressing the growing Hezbollah presence in the Southwest U.S., Mauro goes on to cite Michael Braun, former Chief of Operations

Hezbolla in MX

for the Drug Enforcement Agency, who said in 2009, “Hezbollah uses “the samecriminal weapons smugglers, document traffickers and transportation experts as the drug cartels.”

While our own DHS claims, “The border has never been more secure”, ICE Agents and Border Patrol Officers say privately we ar
For those who have taken the time to receive training to carry a Concealed Carry Weapons permit (CCW) you already know that under Title 46 US Code law enforcement officers do not have a “duty to protect”.  While many do, there is no obligation to so.  This means self-defense is the only real means of defense.  And, standing your found ins a defensible position is a matter of right, not a matter of law.e being deceived with non-reporting, statistical manipulation and perverse national security policy.

The US Department of Justice, while pressing the case for an alteration of stand your ground laws in states that have them, and at the same time driving the bus on even greater restrictions on owning guns, has failed miserably to prosecute violations of gun laws that are already on the books.  And then we have the criminally negligent “Fast & Furious” case where DOJ leadership facilitated the trafficking of firearms -the same firearms they wish to ban in the US- to Mexican drug cartels, resulting in the mercers of hundreds of Mexican nationals and federal agents like Brian Terry.

While the name of the organization lends itself to project an altruistic end, eliminating the illegal use of guns, it is a broad net that has been used in New York, New Jersey and Washington DC to persecute law abiding individuals who otherwise lawfully possess ammunition, long guns and hand guns. Mr. Bloomberg does not talk about enforcement of the existing gun laws of his city and state. Major cities like New York and Chicago have more gun laws than any other cities in America, yet statistically they are where more crimes involving guns per capita occur.

So what is the point?  When progressives like Michael Bloomberg can’t mount a rational argument on any topic, including “illegal guns” they turn to the emotional, and sprinkle the argument with glittering generalities.  It is the “watch the shinny object” tactic that has become so prevalent in modern-day politics.  When the Chief of INTERPOL speaks of the need for free societies to be armed societies so citizens can protect themselves from criminals, and possibly one day terrorists with illegal guns, it is time to honor the wise men who framed the Constitution in the way they did.
